Well as I figure out how to iron out the kinks in my bog and website, I’ll take a moment and tell a little about myself.

Schoolin’:
I’m a 21 year old College student at Bowie State University of Bowie MD. I am entering my 9th semester (due to the next item) there this fall for what should be my final and senior year. But I’m a procrastinator and so haven’t done as well as I should of as school is going to take longer then it should. Also my work has caused me to take fewer classes at to go at time that just plain suck. Which brings me to my job.

Work:
I am a Information Technician Specialist for the Dept. of Veterans Affairs in Washington DC. I have been for 4 years now an Intern Computer Specialist (even though my paperwork says, “Office Automation Clerk”). I work with the Server Team. So basically if it’s a server its part of the Teams job to fix. Also in my office since were always low on people I help on anything I can. Such as fixing aging workstations, setup of old and new equipment and pulling fixes out of this air haha :-p. We have a saying in the office, FM (Blank) Magic. It’s what something just happens for no reason. Normally it’s when something seems to fix itself.

Well work has been very good to me. Even though I complain about it alot out of the office I sometimes have to pause and realize that my job has given me the funds to have my 2 MINIs and pay for this site. I now work 40 hours a week and the plans are in the works to make me a full time employee here so I’m not an intern. I can’t wait! More pay and health benefits. So after working 40hr weeks I will only be able to take 2 classes this fall, both at night. So there that’s how work has changed my school schedule.

Other aspects of my life…
I have had a computer in front of me ever since 3rd grade so I was 8 then. Computers have ruled my life every since. I work a job that requires me to work with computers and I do everything in my daily life behind one. It’s really amazing how I can do everything I need at one these days. Back when I was 8 I thought it was great that I could leave my desk @ school and sit at one to learn things. Things that the teacher tried her hardest to teach me. I found that the teacher could teach me much better and quicker. Maybe it was that the computer worked at the touch of a button haha.
My family got their first pc in 1995. My Dad credits that computer to launching me into computers and to me having my talent for fixing them today. I think he is right. To think back in 1995 a pc costing $5,000 got you a NEC Power Player LE with a Pentium I 133 MHz CPU, 16mb of ram, 1.5 GB hard drive, 4x cd-rom, 28.8k modem and Windows 95. Man I thought it was the greatest thing. Not knowing that in 10 years time (2005) computer costing that much would be server class. That a high end computer could be had for about $2000.

So I have branched out into different areas of computing. I run a small on the side computer business. I work for individuals and some small businesses to fix and build pcs for them. It’s a fun and fulfilling experience, finding solutions to their problems fast. :-)
I also have built a few pcs for myself in the last few years. Learning a little about each and moving onto the next with a keen sense of what to do right on the next.
My current pc is a maze of wires and tubing. It’s this way because I have it working and don’t have the time or patience to sit down and redo the wiring. Although I really should. I will post some pics of this monstrosity that I use @ home soon. Till then here are its specs.
